NAME: pyruvic acid
FORMULA: CH3C(O)C(O)OH
AUTHOR(YEAR): YamamotoBack(1985)
T: 358K
λ: 250-401nm
BIBLIOGRAPHY: S. Yamamoto and R.A. Back, "The photolysis and thermal decomposition of pyruvic acid in the gas phase", Can. J. Chem. 63, 549-554 (1985); DOI: 10.1139/v85-089
COMMENTS: The absorption spectrum was measured in a 4-m tube at a pressure of 4.85 Torr at 358 K and is shown in Fig. 1 (absorbance in arbitrary units vs. wavelength, 250-400 nm); for the maximum at 350.6 nm the extinction coefficient εmax = 10 L mol-1 cm-1 was measured

The absorption curve in Fig. 1 has been digitized and normalized to εmax and the absorption cross sections have been obtained by personal communication from Abraham Horowitz
